The Board of Directors is seeking candidates for two important Jefferson County positions:

  • A replacement for Ms. Paulette Nordin on the Jefferson County Planning Commission.  The major role of the Planning Commission is to review citizen input concerning land use matters and make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners.   As the County governing body, the Board of Commissioners is the final authority in making land use decisions.  The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing public input and making recommendations on proposed changes to the Crooked River Ranch Commercial and Residential zones codes – such as the change that struck down earlier numerical limitations on large animals in the CRR Residential Zone.

  • A replacement for Phil Cochran as CRR’s Representative on the Jefferson County Economic Development Advisory Board.  In the current economic climate, this position has become increasingly important since it supports the county-wide program that seeks to stimulate economic development (including new job formation, retention of jobs and capital investment).  This Board supports the Jefferson County Economic Development Manager by providing advice on program and policy direction; ideas for key efforts and initiatives, contacts for business, government and other individuals, agencies critical for success; and goals, measures and metrics for program success.    There are many folks who have retired to Crooked River Ranch who have experience in business that could help make a difference.

Notice for Boaters:

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol will conduct its annual boat safety examination day Saturday April 19 from 10AM-4PM in both Madras and Crooked River Ranch.

  • The event is one week before the opening weekend of fishing season.
  • Successful completion of the exam which focuses on the mandatory equipment needed for particular boats, earns boaters the annual safety sticker that goes on the back of the vessel. Participation greatly reduces the chances of being contacted on the water by marine patrol personnel.
  • No punitive action takes place. If, for example, a fire extinguisher is founded discharged, participants can get a new one and then earn a safety decal.
  • The parking lot checks will take place at the Madras Bi-Mart and the Crooked River Ranch Fire Department.
  • Upcoming classes for Proctored Boater Education are set for May 7th 6PM-8PM at the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and on May 8th from 6P-8P at the Crooked River Ranch Fire Department. No cost or reservation required.

For questions please contact Captain Marc Heckathorn 541-475-6520

Election 2014
The Applicant Package for those interested in running for the Board of Directors or the Architectural Committee is now available for downloading from the Association Website (choose the item from the home page) or hard copies may be picked up at the Administrative Office. They must be submitted by April 30th. Here is an opportunity to help chart the future of your community—we are looking for a few good women and men to do just that. It is important to have as broad a representation of our Ranch Community as possible. If you personally are not able to run, but know of someone who you believe would be an asset as a member of the Board of Directors or the Architectural Review Committee, please contact the Administrative Office and ask that a member of the Nominating Committee call you. Please do the same if you are thinking about running for either position but have questions you would like answered before making your decision. Alternatively, you can call any of the members of the Board—their telephone numbers are listed both on the website and in each edition of the Telegraph.
